Colorado Rapids
Major League Soccer Team
The Colorado Rapids Soccer Club was established on Oct. 17, 1995, as one of Major League Soccer’s 10 charter clubs. The Rapids reached the MLS Cup Final in the league’s second year and won the MLS Cup for the first time in 2010. To celebrate the club’s 30th anniversary on April 18, 2026, the Colorado Rapids returned to their original home, Empower Field at Mile High, for an iconic matchup against Inter Miami FC.
As part of the Kroenke Sports & Entertainment family, the Rapids are leaders in the local community, raising tens of thousands of dollars annually for Kroenke Sports Charities, which support underserved children and families in Colorado through educational and recreational programs and other initiatives.
The club’s player development pathway includes Rapids 2, its MLS NEXT Pro team, and the Colorado Rapids Academy, a fully funded elite youth development program. Since Rapids 2 began play in 2022, seven players have progressed from the team to the Rapids First Team. Over 100 players currently play for Rapids Academy teams across multiple age groups, including U-15, U-16 and U-18 teams. Fifteen players have come through the Rapids Academy and signed professional Homegrown Player contracts with the Rapids First Team.
